Congrats on finding a good Christian woman who loves King Jesus and then you also!
"He that has found a good wife has found favours, and has received gladness from God."
—Proverbs 18:22 (Septuagint)
I wanted to share an article on Biblical Masculinity and also a few key bits of wisdom as you consider your path and move forward. My aim Is to strengthen relationships, families, houses, and ultimately the Kingdom of God.
1. As a leader of ourselves first and then our families, we must remember to respond and not react. More importantly respond by seeking God first. But then move forward. Jesus is our savior but He is also our King and we have to obey (action) the commands to have life to the full (John 10:10).
In Ch 30 of First Kingdoms (1 Samuel) we see David leading his men back to their town only to find it burnt to the ground and all their families and possessions had been taken captive by Amalec. His men were looking to stone him, but instead of reacting he called counsel from a fellow man of God, prayed, then responds.
"And David was greatly distressed, because the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, each for his sons and his daughters: but David strengthened himself in the Lord his God. 7 And David said to Abiathar the priest the son of Achimelech, Bring near the ephod. 8 And David enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? and he said to him, Pursue, for thou shalt surely overtake them, and thou shalt surely rescue." —1 Kingdoms 30:6-8
2. Meekness is better understood as power under control —not weak or passive. Should we worry about How much power we have? No. With God 1 can chase 1000. As a man/husband, we are enough (with God).
"One of you has chased a thousand, for the Lord our God, he fought for you, as he said to us." —Joshua 23:10
3. Always remember you are not alone as a leader for Christ, whatever the office. We may feel like we have this enormous weight serving our families through leadership when a challenge comes. But we must remember that leadership in the Kingdom (Kingdom Family) is appointed by God and backed up—Fully.
15 And the servant of Elisaie rose up early and went out; and, behold, a host compassed the city, and horses and chariots: and the servant said to him, O master, what shall we do? 16 And Elisaie said, Fear not, for they who are with us more than they that are with them. 17 And Elisaie prayed, and said, Lord, open, I pray thee, the eyes of the servant, and let him see. And the Lord opened his eyes, and he saw: and, behold, the mountain full of horses, and there were chariots of fire round about Elisaie. 18 And they came down to him; and he prayed to the Lord, and said, Smite, I pray thee, this people with blindness. And he smote them with blindness, according to the word of Elisaie. —4 Kingdoms (2nd Samuel) 6:15-18
I wish you well brother and pray for blessings, strength, clarity, and peace for you and yours. As a Christian husband (and just man) we know that this territory can come with lots of sacrifice and root strengthening storms. But it also comes with immense joy, growth, and most importantly an excellent testimony of the faithfulness of our King.
Blessings in King Jesus,
